Motocross of African Nations, 28/29 August 2010

July 19, 2010

It is less than a month before the FIM AFRICA/AMU CUP OF NATIONS motocross event to be held at Dirt Bronco Raceway outside Krugersdorp on 28th and 29th August and things are already hotting up.

As the only international motocross event on the continent in 2010, it offers South African Motorsport enthusiasts the opportunity to see South Arica’s very best riders pit their skills against Africa’s best.

The event will showcase 6 classes competing in 3 heats on the day to determine both the best Individuals and the best Country in Africa.

The last time this prestigious event was run in South Africa was some 10 years ago and the Country has eagerly waited the opportunity to host it again.

Dirt Bronco, situated in Krugersdorp close to Johannesburg, is currently being transformed into a venue which will be able to meet the demands of an event of this scale. Dedicated food and beverage areas will be supplemented by a beer garden and spectators will be able to get up close to the action with new spectator areas built within the circuit.

Spectators will be able to meet riders from all over Africa as well as the local heroes, and see how things are done in the pits as well as on the track.

Tickets are available from Computicket and cost R60 for adults and R30 for children u/12. The price of the ticket is for both days, including the practice day (Saturday, 28 August) and race day (Sunday, 29 August).

Individual MX Riders wanting to enter are reminded that the closing date for entries is the 13th August.

Marc 'Bomber' Baxter - Race Results - Rover MX 4th July 2010

July 6, 2010

 Hey all...

On 4th July 2010 a club race was held at Rover MX Club Port Elizabeth.
I entered 2 classes, and managed to secure wins in both.

The first class.....
First heat got off to not such a good start, with a third out of the gate, but I fought my way into the lead by the end of the first lap. A lapse in concentration caused a little fall which put me right back to the back of the pack.
I clawed back up to 2nd place, and if I had an extra 5min, I reckon I could have got the lead back.
The se...

May 13, 2010

Saturday 24th April marked the 2nd round of the 2010 MR Price Supermoto Nationals, at Killarney Raceway. After walking away from round 1 with the points lead in the S3 class, over rival Cameron Peterson, Grant and the team were full of confidence, and looking to build on the points lead he already had. After lots of hard work behind him from trainer Russell White, it was a stronger, fitter Grant who arrived to do business. The track itself has a very fast tar section, with a fair dirt sectio...

First Eastern Cape and Border Regional

May 12, 2010

 Hey Everyone

Finally racing has returned to the Eastern Cape region which got started at Queenstown this past weekend. It felt really good to be racing at a more local level again and not just at nationals, I think the lack of racing has definitly been the downfall in my fitness. No matter how hard you push it when practising, its just not the same as when racing.

Queenstown went really awesome, MX2 class, first heat went really well. I won, beating SA championship leader, Anthony Reynar...
